FOUNDER · ON PROPERTY · SIX PARTNERS MAX

I experience the guest journey myself before I advise leadership.

SignalTide is built around a simple rule: I should understand what a guest actually experiences before I prescribe what the property should fix. That means walking the arrival, talking with leadership and staff, and following the same discovery, comparison, OTA, direct-booking, pre-arrival, arrival, and on-property journey the guest experiences.

Three decades of commercial, positioning, customer-growth, and travel-related work sharpen the judgment I bring to that process. But SignalTide is not built around my résumé. It is built around seeing where the property experience and the guest's decision journey fall out of alignment, then helping leadership fix what matters most. I cap the work at 6 active partners so that judgment is never handed off.

The founder perspective

The hotel is not a collection of marketing channels. It is one guest decision.

A prospective guest does not separate search, an OTA listing, reviews, the hotel’s own pages, a booking engine, pre-arrival information, and the front door into different vendor assignments. They experience one chain of confidence. A weak handoff anywhere can change the decision.

Michael leads SignalTide engagements directly because the useful work is not choosing which marketing tactic to sell next. It is understanding where the property’s real value becomes diluted, confusing, inconsistent, or harder to trust, then setting the order in which those gaps should be addressed.

WHY SIGNALTIDE EXISTS

The problem is rarely one channel. It is the gap between the property and the decision.

A strong independent property can be better than the version of itself a prospective guest encounters online. The arrival can feel considered while the pre-arrival information feels generic. The staff can create warmth while the booking path feels transactional. The rooms, spa, restaurant, neighborhood, or rituals can be memorable in person while the property is reduced to the same adjectives every competitor uses. SignalTide exists to find those disconnects before leadership spends more money amplifying them.

The initial immersion produces the executive priority plan. The 12-month partnership is where I stay close enough to help leadership act on it: aligning guest expectations with the real property, strengthening trust and positioning, correcting guest-facing friction, improving clarity where discovery or booking is part of the problem, and changing priorities when the evidence or the season says we should. The point is not more marketing. The point is a guest journey leadership can defend because the promise, decision path, arrival, and real experience finally make sense together.

MY ROLE

My role is not to pretend I run your hotel.

I am not presenting myself as a hotel operator, revenue manager, F&B consultant, staff-training firm, PMS engineer, or specialist in every operating discipline. My work is different.

I look across the guest journey to identify where leadership intent, the promise presented to the guest, and the experience the guest actually encounters stop aligning. My responsibility is to make those gaps visible, establish the priority order, and directly lead the guest-facing work that falls within SignalTide's scope.

When the answer belongs to a specialist operating discipline, the credible response is to involve the right expertise, not pretend one consultant should know everything.

“I do not want to become another vendor on a hotel’s list. I want leadership to know exactly who is responsible for finding where the guest journey loses confidence, deciding what matters first, and staying close enough to see whether the work actually improves the decision.”

THE SIGNALTIDE STANDARD

What every partner can expect

On-property before prescription — the engagement starts by understanding what guests and staff actually experience.
Founder accountability throughout — Michael remains the person setting priorities, reviewing the work, and speaking with leadership.
A strict cap of 6 active partners, so the relationship never becomes an agency roster managed by layers of account staff.
Diagnosis before execution — the $8,000 immersion identifies and prioritizes the gaps; the 12-month partnership is where those priorities are repaired and refined.
Real property evidence — original on-location observation, photography, video, guest feedback, competitive context, and available performance data inform the work.
No activity for activity's sake — every workstream must connect to guest confidence, preference, direct-booking clarity, reputation, or a defined commercial priority.

TALK DIRECTLY TO MICHAEL

No call center. No junior handoff. Just Michael.

Call directly, or send a few details and Michael will review the property personally. The first conversation is not a software demo or an agency discovery script. It is a fit conversation about the property, the guest decision, and whether founder-led immersion plus a 12-month operating relationship can materially improve where confidence or preference is being lost.
